Frequently Asked Question:
Do you provide Telehealth Services?:
Yes, if Connecticut or Virginia families would like Telehealth those services are available. At this time those are the only two states available for telehealth. Massachusetts will hopefully be available within the next few weeks.
What type of services do you provide?:
At SBK Interventions, Stephanie provides child center services. What the services look like for each child is different based on the goals. Some children target all goals through play while others work at a table. More often, there is a combination of table work and play. Most clients are in person, however, there is an option for virtual sessions. The services are relationship-based. Meaning, the sessions are slow at the beginning to ensure that Stephanie establishes a relationship with each child/client. This way the clients want to come back. The goal is to never have a client crying when they enter the office. All services are family-based. Families as well as the client are supported and heard.
How long is each session?:
Sessions last between 30 and 45 minutes. This depends on the schedule and the child. Some children are not able to maintain attention for a full 45 minutes. In addition, after a long day, clients are tired. Most after-school/after-work sessions are 30 minutes. If family members, choose to stay in the office during the sessions that is great. If family members leave the office that is fine too. Sessions end 5 minutes early to answer questions. For families in CT using insurance, BCBS has placed new policies and restrictions on sessions. Therefore, Anthem BCBS sessions can be no longer than 30 minutes at this time.
Who do you work with?:
Stephanie works with children and developmentally disabled adults. She sees clients from about 12 months to 35 years old.
What types of therapy do you provide?:
Stephanie provides services for feeding/swallowing, apraxia, dysarthria, language, articulation and AAC. She services clients for a variety of diagnoses such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Apraxia, Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, Cerebral Palsy, and genetic disorders.
Stephanie is also a BCBA so in the cases that require that specialty she also can use that expertise to assist clients to move forward with their goals.
In addition, Stephanie has the rare combination of her expertise in language development and her BCBA to help children who have a trauma diagnosis. She can assist in schools with consultation, programming, and goal development as well as in her office with language development and feeding services.
Do you accept insurance?:
Yes, for Connecticut residents only
Currently, Cigna and Aetna are in-network. Most Connecticare plans are also in-network. Harvard Pilgrim and Tri-Care are out of network. Unfortunately, we do not accept United, Oxford or Husky at this time. Insurance is available for in-state CT residents only. Telehealth services in Massachusetts and Virginia are private pay only at this time.
